Reflective of the time period, our interior is decorated with period-specific furniture and wallpaper, with exhibits located on the upper floor. The space is unlike many others, and offers a unique, homey atmosphere - transporting guests a century back. Mackin House also offers:

Photo-VIDEO Rentals

Mackin House offers a perfect setting for your next photography or film project. With lots of natural lighting, period-representative furniture, and Edwardian architecture, it provides a unique backdrop for creators looking to stand out.

Policies

  • At least one Museum staff member must be on location for the duration of the booking.

  • Many pieces in the Museum are fragile and one of a kind. Guests are expected to exercise caution when navigating the space.

  • Limited catering & take out is welcome within the venue, and we'll have complimentary tea and coffee available. Please do not use chaffing dishes or heat lamps.

  • Any alcohol consumption must be discussed and approved of in advance with CHS staff. Guests are liable for acquiring appropriate permitting.

  • Noise must be limited to an at an ambient level. No excessively loud music.

  • No glitter or confetti to be distributed within the Museum.

  • Film crews are limited to up to 15 people, with teams above 10 being subject to an addition $10 per hour charge (totaling $60 per hour).

  • Cleaning responsibilities lie with the guests for any messes created while using the space. Please ensure that garbage is properly disposed, furniture is returned to its place, and the venue is returned to its original state before leaving.

  • Museum bookings should be held between 7 AM and 11 PM. Any time booked outside of those guidelines will be charged at a late night rate of $75 per hour.

  • Absolutely no adult filming, firearms or pyrotechnics, damage to artifacts or the property, recreational drug use, smoking (including vaping and marijuana use), or unruly behavior.

  • Guests may be fined or held liable to any damages caused or clean up necessitated as a result of the booking.

Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of policies, and Coquitlam Heritage Society reserves the right to change these policies at it sees fit based on the terms of each individual booking. 48 hours prior to your booking, we’ll send along a more detailed list of guidelines including information regarding entry, parking, and WiFi, for your reference.     Enjoy a tour of Mackin house followed by tea and scones in our dining room

  • Muffin Baking

    Work together in groups to bake apple muffins in our old-fashioned kitchen to enjoy.

  • Butter Churning

    Learn about the different ways to churn cream into butter and taste the results afterwards.

  • History Box

    Learn how to connect clues from select artifacts, handle different objects, and put together a story using the items collected.

  • Candle Making

    Learn about the use of light and heating during the early 1900s and make a rolled beeswax candle to take home.

  • Foam Block Printing

    Learn about the art and architecture of the Arts & Crafts movement and design your own printmaking foam block inspired by our heritage wallpaper.

  • Arts & Crafts

    We will provide a craft activity for children based on the theme of the event.
