Scouting in Canada @ Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex
July to November 2018
Officially, the Canadian General Council of the Boy Scouts was incorporated by an Act of Parliament on June 12, 1914. The Boy scouts were popular in their early days, viewed by many as a counter point to industrialization which was believed to have “feminized” men. The focus on outdoor life provided boys with opportunities to emulate activities normally reserved for older men, such as hunting and shooting. Today the motto of “Do your Best” encourages youth to challenge themselves. Join us for this exciting look at the history of scouting in Canada and Coquitlam in the Coquitlam Sports Hall of Fame.
