We currently have tours in English, French, and Mandarin available and will do our best to accommodate all abilities and learning levels.

Mackin House Tour

Visit the museum and learn the history of early Maillardville settlers, Fraser Mills Lumber Company, and how people lived in the Edwardian era of Coquitlam. This presentation takes you through each room of the house highlighting the functions of the rooms and artifacts that tell the stories of those that have come before us.

Homefront: World War II

Learn about the impact of World War II on those who stayed behind in Coquitlam and Canada in general. This presentation takes you through each room of the museum and our Heritage Assistant highlights the themes and artifacts that speak to this unique time in the history of our community.

Fraser Mills Train Station & Caboose

The history of transportation and trains are an integral part of the building of Canada, British Columbia and Maillardville. Learn about the original location of the Fraser Mills Train Station, how it functioned as a community hub, and the important roll cabooses played in the railroad's day to day workings across Canada.

Deconstructed: The History of Everyday Objects

Move through Mackin House and inspect everyday objects and what fascinating stories they can reveal. See inside a piano and learn about umbrellas and electric lighting. This tour will get you thinking differently about the ordinary things you use every day!

Family LIfe: The Evolutions of Family Life Since 1909

Investigates how families have evolved since 1909, and over subsequent decades in Coquitlam. You also learn about Maillardville itself, what roles make up different members of a neighbourhood and the legacy left by some of this community’s first families.

Coquitlam’s Heart of Gold

Learn about the history of BC’s Gold Rushes from the 1858 Fraser River Gold Rush, the 1862 Cariboo Gold Rush, to the Klondike Gold Rush of 1899. Coquitlam Heritage will provide a look at gold and how it is at the heart of our history.
